The problem

There was no Kubernetes and no delivery pipeline: applications ran as they were and had to be containerised first.

Containerised the applications.
Built development and production Kubernetes clusters in code, created and updated from Bitbucket Pipelines.
Set up pipelines that deploy the applications to the clusters.
Added high availability, backups and disaster recovery, plus monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.
Wrote the documentation and trained the team.

Releases go through a pipeline instead of by hand, with fewer failed deployments.
The platform keeps running when a part fails, and can be restored after an outage.
Clearer monitoring, and the team can run and change the setup themselves.
